       				 <title>Rock Solid Line Up</title> 
					  <description> Gumbo Ya Ya - Mardi Gras in The District returns June 6 &amp;amp; 7 with a rock solid line up featuring the musical genres of New Orleans - zydeco, Cajun, and New Orleans jazz. This year's talent will perform on two stages at timed intervals, creating a non-stop musical atmosphere. In addition, the music will be brought down to street level with the arrival of The River City Brass Band who bring the charm and excitement of the spontaneous parades of New Orleans. This exceptional 10-piece band will march through the streets in authentic &amp;quot;second-line&amp;quot; fashion with a children's parade to follow.
New bands at Gumbo Ya Ya are:
* The Crawdaddies infuse Cajun, zydeco, blues, ska, roots, rock, and reggae into an incomparable, groove-laden sound.
* Gumbohead is a St. Louis based collective of musical rapscallions who find joy playing tunes born in and influenced by New Orleans and southwestern Louisiana. The group are longtime veterans of the New Orlens Jazz &amp;amp; Heritage Festival.
* Creole Zydeco Farmers halining from Lafayette, LA have travled extensively throughout the world and are one of the few bands today playing traditional zydeco. And they really are farmers.
Returning favorites will be Roddie Romero and the Hub City All-Stars, Dikki Du &amp;amp; the Zydeco Krewe, Backwater Bayou Band, and Hurricane Gumbo.&amp;nbsp;</description>

       				 <title>2008 Festival Will Feature Grammy-Nominated Band!</title> 
					  <description> For the first time ever, the Grammy Awards featured a category for &amp;quot;Best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album.&amp;quot; And Gumbo Ya Ya fan favorite Roddie Romero &amp;amp; the Hub City All Stars were nominated.
The District is pleased to announce that &amp;quot;Grammy-Nominated&amp;quot; Roddie Romero &amp;amp; the Hub City All Stars will return to Gumbo Ya Ya again this year. Festival dates are June 6 &amp;amp; 7, 2008.
Roddie has been playing at Gumbo Ya Ya since the very first festival in 1993 and has referred to Rock Island as his &amp;quot;second home.&amp;quot;
Octavia Records had this to say upon the announcement, &amp;quot;Octavia is honored to have Roddie Romero &amp;amp; the Hub City All Stars nominated for a Grammy in the inaugural year of the 'Best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album' category. This band has put all heart and soul into making 'The La Louisianne Sessions' a beautiful representation of their Lafayette, Louisianna heritage.&amp;quot;
Although they didn't win, Gumbo Ya Ya attendees will hear their Grammy-worthy tunes this year.</description>
