Gumbo Ya Ya – Mardi Gras in The District returns for its seventeenth year on Friday, June 12 and Saturday, June 13, 2009. The event features two days of New Orleans zydeco, jazz, and blues on two stages and second line processions. Enjoy authentic Cajun and Creole cuisine. Shop the street vendors and experience French Quarter culture. Kids can make Mardi Gras masks and beaded necklaces Saturday. Enter to win a free airfare for two in the Gumbo Ya Ya getaway. And a half-ton of Mardi Gras beads will be tossed into the crowd throughout the event. Gumbo Ya Ya starts at 5 p.m. Friday and noon Saturday.  

Gumbo Ya Ya is held on the Great River Plaza, 2nd Avenue between 17th & 19th Streets, in Downtown Rock Island, Illinois. Admission is $8 for a one-day ticket; children 12 and under are free.

A two night Mardi Gras Party in The District Located in Downtown Rock Island, Illinois on the Great River Plaza on 2nd Avenue between 17th & 19th Streets.
