The bands for Gumbo Ya Ya 2011 are almost “inked”.  This year’s line up is gonna kick it up a notch!  Stay tuned….Schedule is almost ready to go “LIVE”!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations SEAN WOOD of Rock Island, Illinois!  He is the lucky winner drawn for the $500 gift certificate on AirTran Airways, compliments of the Quad City International Airport!  Congratulations Sean!  See, people do really win these things.

Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, participated, and sponsored Gumbo Ya Ya 2010.  We truly couldn’t have done it without you!

Friday night at Gumbo is just now finished and it was a rousing success!! The food was good, the music was great, the beer was cold, and the beads were plentiful.

If you missed out, no worries, we’ve got another whole night of partying tomorrow… or should I say tonight since its 2:00am!! Gates open at 4pm.

Gumbo Ya Ya 2010

Gumbo Ya Ya – Mardi Gras in The District returns for its eighteenth year on Friday, June 11 and Saturday, June 12, 2010. The festival features two nights of New Orleans zydeco, jazz, and blues on two stages, a variety of foods including Cajun and Southern cuisine, street vendors and French Quarter culture. Enter to win free airfare for two in the Gumbo Ya Ya getaway, or test your speed and your taste buds in the crawfish eating contest. Add 1,000 pounds of Mardi Gras beads that are tossed into the crowd and you’ve got all the right ingredients for a great time. Gumbo Ya Ya starts at 5 p.m. Friday and 4 p.m. Saturday.

Gumbo Ya Ya is held on the Great River Plaza, on 2nd Avenue between 17th and 19th Streets, in Downtown Rock Island, Illinois. Admission is $8 for a one-night ticket; $12 for a two-night ticket, and children 12 and under are free.
